2024 MS TOC
Last weekend, VDA not only participated in the UBC Spring Tournament, but Coach Stormee also led three teams of debaters to one of the most fiercely competitive events of the year, the Middle School Tournament of Champions (MS TOC). In this gathering of the world’s top PF (Public Forum) debaters, our students showcased their debating talents and resilience, achieving remarkable results! Debate is not only a battle of logic and reasoning but also an art of communication and expression. During the tournament, our debaters used precise language and strong logic to win over both judges and audiences.
We are incredibly proud of the effort, dedication, and perseverance our students demonstrated. Participating in the Middle School TOC is a memorable experience, and every step forward is something we should all celebrate together.
Let’s give a warm round of applause to these outstanding young debaters!
Please continue to follow and support our students—there’s no doubt their future in debate will be even more brilliant!
Marcus Zhang delivered an impressive performance, securing the 20th spot in the Best Speaker Award, placing him in the top 10% out of 330 competitors!
Jadon Yao dazzled with his performance, earning the 17th Best Speaker Award, ranking in the top 5%. His success is not only a personal achievement but also a source of pride for VDA!
Amidst 165 strong teams, our students faced the challenge head-on, bravely pushing towards victory. The team of Jadon Yao and Marcus Zhang, along with the team of Anthony Fuliu and Eaton Li, both advanced to the elimination rounds, excelling in the preliminaries with 11 wins in total! They ultimately secured a spot in the top 16, an achievement that fills every parent and coach with pride.
