2023 Yale University Invitational

We are excited to share the outstanding achievements of our debaters at the recent Yale Invitational, where the Vancouver Debate Academy (VDA) showcased its prowess on the global stage.

Lincoln Douglas Performance:
Our very own Owen Chen made a significant impact in his Varsity LD debut. He impressively progressed to the elimination rounds, placing in the top 64 out of 170 participating teams. A commendable start for Owen!

Varsity Public Forum Results:
Four of our formidable teams made their mark by advancing into the elimination rounds. Special commendations to Sophia Zhang & Aarav Motivala and Wayne Liang & Nikki Zheng, who secured spots among the top 64 and top 32 teams respectively, out of nearly 300 teams!

Narrow Misses:
Many of our teams were on the brink of success, with over half being just ONE WIN short of progressing further. The next victory podium is within our sight, and we’re confident we’ll ascend it in our future encounters.

International Varsity Highlights:
In the quarterfinals, Sally Jin and Ken Wu made us proud with their remarkable performance.
