2026 Georgetown Tournament

Over the weekend, Vancouver Debate Academy competed in the Georgetown 2026 October tournament. Our two teams in their respective divisions battled it out against teams from all over North America on whether or not the US should establish a moratorium on hyperscale data center construction. Our students worked very hard to prepare and I am very excited to share our results!
Congratulations to the team of Angela Zang & Vivian Zou for advancing to the Double-Octo Finals! They were ranked 29 out of 92 teams! These two worked so unbelievably hard to compete at this tournament. Over the past several weeks, they prepared inside and outside of class to improve their arguments and ensure that they were set up for success. At the tournament, they never stopped doing research and planning for the next debate. I am beyond proud of these students and am so excited to see what they will do next! Excellent job, you two!
In the Junior Varsity Division, though our team of Bateer Wang and Vincent Teng did not advance, these two students also worked tirelessly to prepare. They were also extremely supportive of their teammates and stuck around to help until the end of the tournament. Thank you so much for being there for your team!
This tournament was just the beginning for us! I am so excited to see what else we accomplish this year. We will see you at Peach State!
Congratulations to all of our VDA debaters on an outstanding weekend of competition!
Let’s go VDA!!!
