2022 National Speech and Debate Season Opener

Absolutely incredible weekend, and a HUGE congrats to Fredrick and Effie for locking down the JV Championship (with a little help from Aella and Celina’s absolute takedown of the #1 seed in quarters)! To everyone who bumped up a division, including our MSers debating at a high school tournament: you are absolute legends who are going to wreck shop in future tournaments. Awesome TEAM EFFORT and leadership from Jackie, Stormee, Bishal, and Joseph on the coaching rotation. Fantastic work, everyone! Congrats, too, to our speaker award winners and elim qualifiers in all divisions!

Special recognition to our in-person competitors: the teams of Ardelle Tian and Wayne Liang, and Jason Zhou and Sally Jin. Both teams travelled all the way from Vancouver to Lexington, Kentucky to compete against some of the top teams in the country. Both teams were competing in Varsity for the first time and saw wins in one of the hardest tournaments of the year. Great job!
