2026 Middle School Tournament of Champion

Vancouver Debate Academy had another strong showing at this year’s Middle School TOC, where the team competed against some of the best grade 8 and younger students from around the world. Out of a field of hundreds, VDA once again rose to the top, earning top awards and bringing home a world-class education in international affairs, the tournament’s challenging topic.

Please help us in congratulating the following debaters on a job well done!

• Eighth Speaker Miranda Le delivered a tour de force performance, outranking over 450 other debaters to secure a spot in the Top 10 Speakers internationally. Her ability to synthesize complex arguments with poise and clarity is truly exceptional.
• 25th Speaker Luella Zhang’s sharp wit and strategic arguments earned her a prestigious spot atop the leaderboard. This ranking places her in the top echelon of debaters, proving her status as one of the most formidable speakers on the circuit.
• Owen Liang & Vincent Teng finished with a 4-2 record and just missed breaking to elimination rounds. Competing in a field where every round feels like a final, Owen and Vincent put on a masterclass in teamwork and tactical depth. Their performance against such a deep pool of talent proves that they are among the most dangerous young pairs in the country.

These successes are a testament to the hours of research, countless practice rounds, and the relentless spirit that our students carry with them. Competing at the Middle School TOC is an accomplishment in itself, but bringing home hardware and winning records is a clear signal that the future of VDA is brighter than ever.
